Heralding the Ultimate Social Connectivity Web Application

A lot of you have been writing us at feedback@wibiya.com asking about additional features and better ways to connect with your favorite social networks directly through the web toolbar. Well, the dev team here at Wibiya has been listening to your call and we are very happy to announce the launching of the great social layer that will give you and your users lots of social interactions – the Social Connect web application.Social Connect Web Application

We’ve been testing it on our own toolbar for a while, and now it has been released for public use.

The Social Connect web app will make it very easy for your users to use their favorite social networks, connecting to multiple networks (such as facebook, Twitter and others) simultaneously. You will be able to adjust the web application settings manually to include the networks you want and new ones will be added as time goes by.

Once connected, your users will be able to perform various actions directly from your site, without leaving the web page. The actions depend on the network of their choice, but include status updates in facebook, adding friends, following and tweeting on twitter, updating MySpace and much more.

The great thing is that thanks to this social platform, users at your website will be able to update their status on multiple social networks simultaneously. The status can include the page title and an automatically shortened link too. Once a user is connected he can share any page with many different networks with just a single click.

Amongst the features which this social layer will offer during the first stages are:

  • Connect/disconnect to the social network
  • Get user details (name, picture and more)
  • Get friend lists
  • Get status
  • Update status or Tweet, depending on the network the user is using

New features will be added and we’ll publish them and details on how to use them as they come out.

Also, we will continue updating the network list from time to time, adding new options. Once we update them, they will automatically be added to your list.

Wibiya Social Connect Web ApplicationThe Social Connect application is the ultimate connection with the best social networks and the best way to fully integrate your blog or website with social network features and activity. It will allow you to significantly reduce your bounce rate, activate multiple chat rooms, boost your site’s interactivity and more.

Also an important note for web developers: This social platform will create an easier way to develop “social web applications’. Thanks to our social platform you can use user credentials from the various networks (profile image/name/link), use various actions through different networks (FB status changes, twits etc), and you will also know when a user is connected and which network he is connected through, at any time.

More info coming soon so stay tuned!

  • Hi.. I'm one of your happy wibiya toolbar users. I have some stuff installed at the bottom and it kind of conflicts with how the wibiya bar looks so I'm thinking of suggesting a feature where we have an option to place the wibiya toolbar on top of the site?

Sounds like a good idea? :)

  • Sounds like a great idea! In the future this type of advanced customization will be available, so don't despair, I can't guarantee a specific eta, but its near the top of our priorities in the development pipeline.

    So interesting!!!

  • Well, I just love it! Great tool - and providing stats is so helpful when seeing just how effective of a tool it is.

    @Ellie K
I have the world's slowest connection, yet my pages load just as fast as they ever did.

  • My main concern about Wibya is whether it would slow down page loading. To be fair, some sites have so many other possible offenders increasing load time, that I certainly can't tell if Wibya is significant or not.

Can you tell me why Wibya will NOT cause latency, lag, whatever the best thing to call it may be? I don't know if it is a Javascript or PHP application, but sometimes it seems like those REALLLLY drag down performance.

  • Dear Ellie,

You can read more on this subject in our help faq, at: http://support.wibiya.com/entr...,
The short answer is no, it won't affect it because the toolbar will load after the rest of your site and it is very light (about 17kb), but please, visit the support center and read more about it

  • Thank you, I will do that! Appreciate your reply.

One of the biggest thing that I believe that separate Wibiya from Meebo toolbox is the chat.
I wanted to be also connected on Facebook/Myspace/AIM/etc. Chat and start chatting with my friends on my website.
That would be extremely nice and it will surely close the gaps between you guys and Meebo.

  • I added it, but it doesn't seem to be working.

  • Never mind, it's working now.
